Sudan’s war economy, food systems, conflict impacts, and local response are the focus of the April 2026 CSF Research Update, which brings together recent open-source research and analysis to support aid actors working in Sudan. The featured publications examine how economic tensions, gold supply chains, external resource competition, market disruption, and fragile governance continue to shape the conflict, while tracing the effects of war on livelihoods, basic services, food access, and household survival strategies.
Across the selected resources, particular attention is given to Sudan’s fragile food system, women-led humanitarian action, and local peacebuilding efforts. Together, the publications offer timely insights into the structural pressures driving vulnerability across Sudan, the role of local responders in sustaining communities, and the need for conflict-sensitive approaches that address both immediate humanitarian needs and longer-term recovery pathways.
All featured publications are available through the CSF Knowledge Hub.
