Digital aid, conflict economies, and contested histories shape the July 2026 CSF Research Update, which brings together open-source publications on Sudan’s evolving conflict and aid landscape. The featured analysis examines digitalised food assistance and exclusion, gum arabic supply chains and business responsibility in conflict, the historical, ethnic, and governance roots of the SAF–RSF war, and the fall of El Fasher within Darfur’s longer history of conquest, militarisation, and contested state authority.
Political economy, humanitarian access, corporate accountability, conflict financing, and the protection risks facing affected communities feature prominently across the update. Collectively, these resources provide aid actors with timely context to support conflict-sensitive decision-making, analysis, and response planning in a rapidly changing operating environment.
All featured publications are available through the CSF Knowledge Hub.
