Between aid and politics: diagnosing the challenge of humanitarian advocacy in politically complex environments—the case of Darfur, Sudan

The article discusses the challenges faced by humanitarian advocates in Darfur and suggests practical ways for humanitarian organizations to navigate political complexities while still advocating for aid. The article also highlights the need for humanitarians to collectively address the confusion at the heart of their endeavour, by arguing that one of the key challenges facing humanitarian advocates is the lack of a shared understanding of the history, mandate, and perspective on advocacy of different humanitarian organizations. This lack of clarity can lead to confusion and misunderstandings, which in turn can hinder effective advocacy efforts.
